Our Affinity Groups are inclusive, supportive spaces designed to unite individuals with shared experiences, roles, or goals within our professional community. They serve as vital platforms for collaboration, professional development, and advocacy, enhancing our mission to combat domestic violence.

Prevention Affinity Group

MEETS EVERY OTHER FOURTH TUESDAY OF THE MONTH 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

The Prevention Affinity Group is for aspiring and current Preventionists from comprehensive and non-comprehensive domestic violence service providers seeking to build efforts in Maryland that prevent intimate partner violence from happening in the first place. The purpose of this group is to:

  • Unite advocates and staff statewide to cultivate connection
  • Establish a forum for collaborative brainstorming on prevention strategies and mutual feedback
  • Explore national, global, and local prevention initiatives for learning and inspiration

Please note: “Aspiring or current Preventionists” will typically be those who are tasked with prevention work at your organization. This is typically school educators/prevention educators, those doing campus work, and community outreach folks.

2SLGBTQIA+ Affinity Group

MEETS THE FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM (Beginning March 3rd, 2026)

The 2SLGBTQIA+ Affinity Group will provide a dedicated, intentional space for 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals within program members and allied organizations. Launching in February 2026, the group’s primary goal is to foster connection, solidarity, and collective problem-solving among peers with shared identities in the anti-violence movement. This space will affirm the value of 2SLGBTQIA+ professionals in the field, amplify the needs of our communities, and center honest conversations about our experiences.

While this is not a support group, the 2SLGBTQIA+ members of this Affinity Group will uplift one another and our collective work. It is a safe space for reflection and connection that recognizes the power of our collective lived experiences to inform, strengthen, and envision the future of survivor-centered work.

  • Foster connection and solidarity among peers with shared identities navigating the unique challenges of doing this work.
  • Hold space for honest conversations about the difficulties and complexities of being 2SLGBTQIA+ in the anti-violence movement.
  • Center collective problem-solving and share experiences to generate meaningful strategies for better supporting 2SLGBTQIA+ survivors.
  • Affirm our value in the field, amplify the needs of our communities, and create room for hope, joy, and vision.

If you would like to attend or are unsure if this group is a good fit for you, reach out to Angel Campbell at [email protected]
