About Our MNADV Affinity Groups

Our Affinity Groups are inclusive, supportive spaces designed to unite individuals with shared experiences, roles, or goals within our professional community. They serve as vital platforms for collaboration, professional development, and advocacy, enhancing our mission to combat domestic violence.

MNADV Advocates of Color Sanctuary (MACS)

Every First Thursday of the Month at 4:00 PM EST

MNADV Advocates of Color Sanctuary (MACS): This group is open to all who identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color. Emerging advocates, mid-career advocates, students, interns, and all who support victim/survivors of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) are welcome.

We use the term “BIPOC” broadly to include folx who may identify as racially or ethnically marginalized. The purpose of this group is to create a brave space for radical selfcare, self-advocacy, and healing.

MNADV Aspiring Allies

*Beginning in January* Meets Every Second Thursday of the Month at 12:00 pm EST

Aspiring White Allies is an open forum designed for white-identified staff, board, and affiliate members to engage in learning and dialogue, and learn to be active participants in building a strong inclusive and anti-racist organizations. This forum runs parallel to the BIPOC Forum where black, indigenous, people of color host a supportive community with other BIPOC staff, board, and affiliate members and identify actions to recommend to MNADV and affiliate organizations.

Participates in the Aspiring White Allies Forum will:

  • Explore white identity, privilege, and family legacy.
  • Learn about legacies of resistance, white solidarity, and informed allyship.
  • Develop ways to challenge white supremacy in MNADV, affiliate organizations, and DV movements.

Clinical Directors Affinity Group

Meets the second Tuesday of Every Other Month Beginning January 2024 at 1:00 PM EST

MNADV Clinical Directors Affinity (MCDA): This group is for clinicians and trauma therapists who manage, supervise, and develop policies and procedures at a Domestic Violence Program in Maryland. The purpose of this group is to create a network for clinical directors or supervisors to connect, learn, and grow together.

Shelter Directors Affinity Group

Meets the Third Wednesday of every other month at 10:00 am

MNADV Shelter Directors Affinity Group: This group is for Shelter Directors who manage, supervise, and develop policies and procedures at a Domestic Violence Shelter in Maryland. The purpose of this group is to create a network for Shelter  directors or supervisors to connect, learn, and grow together.

Advocacy Directors Affinity Group

Meets the Fourth Thursday of every month at 10:30 am

The MNADV Advocacy Directors Affinity Meeting is for people who lead in advocacy, manage, supervise, and develop policies and procedures at a Domestic Violence Program in Maryland. The purpose of this group is to bring together thought partners to share ideas, resources, and lessons on how to navigate complex cases.
